| Shimano has completely redesigned the Citica reel and has given it a whole new stature in the reel world. Citica boasts an impressive array of high-tech features that make this modestly priced reel stand out from the competition, even reels that cost much more. The upgraded Citica incorporates Shimano's exclusive HEG™ High Efficiency Gearing that gives anglers even more power at high speeds than before. Shimano accomplishes this by using a highly polished, oversized main gear that can grind in heavy fish with minimal effort. Casting distance and ease is a given with the Citica D because of features like the Lo-Mass™ Drilled Spool System that reduces the weight of the spool for an easier, faster startup, even with lighter lures, and the SF™ Super Free bearing supported pinion gear that eliminates drag on the spool shaft and the greatly increased free spool for longer casts. Shimano's VBS™ Variable Brake System allows the angler to fine tune the casting brakes to help eliminate backlash while still achieving plenty of casting distance. The centrifugal brakes on the Citica D are easily accessed by the Turn Key Sideplate that is opened with a turn, and the sideplate is connected to the reel so you won't have to worry about dropping it. Shimano builds this great reel on a solid aluminum frame for maximum strength, and they incorporated their popular Recessed Reel Foot so the reel sits lower on the rod than ever before for increased comfort and control. Finally, when you hook a bruiser bass the Dartanium™ Drag will give you smooth fish fighting power without the binding that lesser drags give you. The star drag adjustment features positive clicks when adjusted so you'll never have your drag back off when you need it the most.
