| Casting - Shimano - Chronarch BPV Series |
| The redesigned Shimano Chronarch is packed with exciting features that make this reel better than ever. The first Chronarch was introduced back in 1993 and since then new technologies, new materials, and new design features have been added to the reels in the Shimano baitcasting lineup. Now all of these great new features are found in the Chronarch B. One of the first things you'll notice is the color and finish of the Chronarch B. Shimano has incorporated their exclusive Ion Plating technology also used in the Stella Spinning Reels for an extremely durable finish. You'll also notice the Lo-Mass drilled wiffle spool which reduces inertia so the spool starts spinning faster with less weight for longer, smoother casts. You'll see the new Escape Hatch access to the VBS centrifugal braking system that allows you entry with an easy to use trigger instead of the screw lock system. The things you don't see are even more exciting, like the A-RB specially treated anti-rust bearings, exclusive Dartanium Drag material for the smoothest Shimano drag ever with fine tuning capability, and the Super Free bearing supported pinion gear that eliminates friction between the spool shaft and the pinion gear for long casts. Another recent innovation that is important is Shimano's exclusive HEG; High Efficiency Gearing. The diameter of the gears have been greatly enlarged and polished providing incredible leverage for a high speed retrieve with plenty of fish moving torque. The BPV stands for Power Version with lower gear ratios for cranking power, the BSV means Saltwater Version for flats fishing or any time you need more line capacity, high speed, and one tough reel.
